Experience: A Lifetime of Committed Family Law Practice
Led by Diane L. Kaiser, Esq., with 36 years of legal experience (34 in family law exclusively), the attorneys at our firm are well positioned to meet your individualized requirements in obtaining a high quality of legal representation. Diane is ably assisted by Cheri A. Kaser, a veteran paralegal with 32 years of experience at our firm and, more recently, a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional (LLP). Together they personally handle the work-up of all our cases. Their continuous involvement exhibits our emphasis on providing a high level of attention to detail and thorough understanding of Colorado family law. Our years of service-oriented practice helps distinguish us from larger firms that lack personalization and the development of strong attorney-client relationships.
Dissolution of Marriage / Divorce
Divorce can be one of the most life-changing events a person will ever go through. It affects everything from finances to family relationships. Our firm guides clients through all aspects of divorce/dissolution of marriage, including asset and debt distribution, spousal maintenance (formerly known as alimony), and the negotiation of settlement agreements. We strive to reach amicable resolutions whenever possible, but are always ready and willing to intervene forcefully in court if it becomes necessary. No matter whether your case is either straightforward or involves complex financial issues, you can trust your case to our expertise, guidance, and protection.
Post-Decree Issues: Modifications and Enforcement
Lifestyle circumstances change, and so do your family law orders. We help clients with post-decree issues such as modifying the parenting plan, changing child support, or altering spousal maintenance. Our firm handles cases where clients are facing or pursuing enforcement proceedings, including citations for contempt of court for failing to comply with court ordered obligations. Our goal is to efficiently address these issues and minimize conflict while achieving the best outcome for clients and their families.
Allocation of Parental Responsibilities (Custody and Decision Making)
Your child’s wellbeing is your highest priority. We provide representation and counsel regarding how parental responsibilities are divided, both in terms of parenting time (physical custody), and decision-making authority (legal custody). We take a child-first approach and work with our clients to create parenting plans that provide stability, consistency, security, and potential for strong relationships. Whether you are creating initial orders or modifying existing orders, we have the experience and sensitivity to handle these highly charged matters.
Child Support: Calculation, Modification, Enforcement
Colorado child support statutes are structured and designed to encourage the financial support of children by both parents. We handle initial determinations of child support orders, and enforcement of and modifications to existing child support orders where the underlying assumptions change. Our attorneys are experienced with Colorado Child Support Guidelines and applicable presumptions, including self-employment income issues, shared parenting scheduling and extraordinary expenses. Our goal is to achieve equitable and accurate results in the best interests of your children.
Paternity and Parentage
Paternity or parentage actions are important for parents and children in order to establish legal rights and duties. Madison Law Group represents mothers, fathers, and putative (alleged) fathers in parentage actions. Parentage actions involve filing a complaint with the court to establish paternity and/or to request DNA testing, gathering evidence, establishing child support, and creating a parenting plan. We have the experience to ensure that your rights are protected and that your child’s needs are met.
Citations to Show Cause in Contempt; Enforcing Your Orders
When an individual does not follow court orders, such as not providing support or not honoring a parenting time schedule, contempt proceedings may need to ensue. We can help you prosecute and defend contempt citations in family law litigation. Our firm’s familiarity with procedures helps ensure that you have your matter presented appropriately and with the aim at compelling compliance or protecting your status under the law.
Expert Witness Testimony in Domestic Relations Cases
Diane L. Kaiser, Esq., is a frequently-used and widely-cited expert witness in the area of domestic relations attorney’s fees. We routinely provide expert testimony on the issue of reasonableness of legal fees, billing practices, and other related matters. Our office can assist parties/practitioners in the provision of well-reasoned and credible expert opinions on these issues, as well as provide trial or hearing appearances to present those opinions.
Limited Family Law Services – LLP Representation
For clients looking for a more affordable option for certain family law issues, Cheri A. Kaser, a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional (LLP), is able to assist with legal matters for limited family law cases within the scope of authorized representation governed by Colorado law, under attorney supervision from Diane L.
